The Bodycare Journal: How to Revive After a Burn Out
We live in a time of uncertainty, but honestly, I think there are always uncertainties in life. This is a moment of inflation, job loss, and the weight of others has put us in a stressful pocket. We may be overworking ourselves, looking for the perfect job opportunity, or taking in too much. It’s straightforward to get caught in the cycle of burnout. This can affect the body in various ways. Don’t worry, I’m here to help guide you through it.
Burnout is a state of complete mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. If you are experiencing burnout, you may notice it is difficult to engage in activities you normally find meaningful. You may no longer care about the things that are important to you or experience an increasing sense of hopelessness.
Getting caught in a cycle of burnout may look something like being at the peak of having a healthy life balance and getting knocked down. This cycle can repeat itself over and over until you take control of the narrative. When things in life become repetitive, you may wonder, “Why does this keep happening to me?” — You should start asking yourself, “How can I change this situation?” or “What am I doing to keep ending up here?” This is the start of breaking the cycle.
In previous entries, we’ve discussed setting boundaries and having routines. Well, these are really impactful tools to have. Personally and with others, boundaries and keep the peace. Routines keep balance. In every way possible between work and family, you have a stronger chance of preventing burnout by implementing those two things. Burning out more than usual? Follow the tips below!
1. Acknowledge the heaviest thing on your plate.
2. Create a plan on how to either eliminate it or tackle it.
3. Revamp or create a proper routine.
4. Block your calendar so to allow specific time slots for tasks.
5. Pour into yourself more. Do something that brings you peace.
6. Know when enough is enough. Break away from people or things that are no longer serving a purpose in your life.
7. Incorporate a rest day. This is a day of nothingness.
Life is what you create it to be. Make sure to spend time with people you have healthy relationships with. If the job is not allowing growth, then find a new one. If you’re having a hard time finding a job, don’t give up. One is out there for you. It’s possible to live a healthy balanced life when you change your mindset and make accountable actions.
