Bodycare Journal: Spring Into A New Ritual

The Bodycare Journal

For a few months now, I’ve been on a super health journey. Yes, this includes eating healthy but also other things. Among most, the sauna has become a new ritual for me. I may go anywhere between 2-5 times a week. It leaves me feeling healed and gives me a burst of energy as if I just completed a workout.

There are 4 main types of saunas. Infrared, dry, traditional(steam), and steam baths. I needed to find a sauna full of additional benefits outside of the traditional ones. For this reason, I chose infrared therapy.

Traditional sauna benefits include:

– Detoxification

– Increased metabolism

– Weight loss

– Increased blood circulation

– Pain reduction

– Antiaging

– Skin rejuvenation

– Improved cardiovascular function

– Improved immune function

– Improved sleep

– Stress management

– Relaxation

Being in the wellness industry, it’s important to also, take care of myself just as much as I do others. Staying up to date with new trends helps me accomplish just that. I knew that I needed a wellness treatment that was accessible for everyday use and easy to approach.

Some Infrared light benefits:

– Reverse skin aging

– Improve wound healing

– Increase energy levels

– Reduce inflammation

– Improve joint health

– Better sleep

– Hair growth

– Heart health

Monthly massages have been a part of my wellness routine for a few years. I can honestly say after sitting in the sauna for 30-60 minutes, my body feels just as relaxed and detoxified but with a little boost of energy. Now, please don’t go out there and substitute massage sessions for sauna treatments because you need them both! If you don’t already use the sauna I highly encourage it for the benefits alone. However, if you’re not a fan of the super hot temperatures, there are other wellness treatments that you can incorporate into your weekly ritual. Those may include, yoga, ice baths, gua sha, manual lymphatic drainage, meditation, nature walks, etc.

As life gets busier, it’s important to stay far away from burnout. You deserve to treat yourself more than once a week. I recommend something that is easily accessible. Create a plan and stick to it that way you always have some type of wellness time to look forward to.
