The Bodycare Journal: Everyday Lymphatic Drainage
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” – Jim Rohn
There are so many ways to detox, and last week I discussed how to cleanse your body by juicing. If you miss that entry, go back and read it because juicing is one of my favorite ways to cleanse the body. I just feel like it really clears the body of it’s impurities inside and out. The other way I love to cleanse my body of impurities is by massage. This is one of my favorite ways to detox because it’s pretty easy and you can do it every day. This type of massage is called lymphatic drainage.
Lymphatic drainage massage is a form of gentle massage that encourages the drainage of lymph nodes and the movement of lymph fluids around the body. In fact, your lymphatic system acts almost like a garbage disposal, helping your body filter out waste and bacteria. This type of massage is detoxing because it is the process of manually moving the lymph fluid to an area with working lymph vessels.
This has become apart of my routine. More so at night, I incorporate lymphatic drainage during my skincare routine. After applying all of the cleansers, toner, serum, etc. I grab my Gua Sha tool to massage my face, neck and underarm area. This not only molds the shape of my face but it removes the access lymph fluid from collecting in the body. If you haven’t added this to your skin care routine, what are you waiting for? You’re missing out on one of the easiest body care methods ever.
There are plenty of videos on how to properly Gua Sha your entire body. One tip that I always like to remind myself of when referring to my lymphatic system is that every motion leads toward the heart. All the points of drainage follow your armpit, neck, and groin area. By enhancing the circulation of lymph, lymphatic drainage is believed to aid in the removal of waste products, toxins, and excess fluid from the body tissues. This can contribute to the detoxification process.
Remember, lymphatic drainage typically involves very light, rhythmic strokes and gentle, circular motions. The idea is to stimulate the flow of lymph without exerting excessive pressure on the body. Try this with your hands, a Gua Sha tool or both and I promise you will become addicted to the results. Don’t worry a video on this is soon to come. Hope you enjoyed this body care tip! I can’t wait to share more.
