The Bodycare Journal: Tips for Cold & Flu Season
It’s cold & flu season again! During this season, I am always visiting my loved ones more than ever. This season is usually filled with Friendsgiving, family dinners, and fun outings. As we gather with family and friends, we are traveling more than ever. Whether you’re flying from across the country, or driving long or short distances, these tips will help keep your body healthy.
Water is the ultimate body care solution for most. It especially helps the muscles stay hydrated depending on if you’re drinking enough. In this peak travel season, I always make sure to STAY HYDRATED. This means that I am drinking more water or fluids than usual. I carry a huge water bottle around no matter where I go. Especially when I’m flying because it not only helps me save money but it also allows me to keep track of how much I’m drinking before the flight. Staying hydrated will help to keep the mucus membranes of your nasal passages moist so they can catch viral invaders before entering your body. This is your body’s first line of defense.
I also, make sure that I take my VITAMINS daily. Let’s be honest, we should all be taking our daily vitamins maybe morning and night but I know we all skip some days here and there. So every day, especially during this season, on top of my everyday vitamins I at least make sure that I take sea moss (gummy vitamin or gel), vitamin C, vitamin B12, and ginger (gummy chews or raw). These specifically help keep my immune system in tip-top shape. Sea moss has all of the vitamins and minerals to boost your immune system. Vitamin C helps protect your cells against the effects of free radicals. Vitamin B12 is integral to red blood cell production, ensuring the immune system gets the oxygen it needs. This will help boost your immune system and keep you energized. Lastly ginger is the ultimate superfood proven to help prevent colds. It contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Don’t forget to keep your body healthy and take your vitamins.
With the sun setting so early, it seems to have a cozy effect on most of us. We want to relax and stay warm in our beds or on the couch. Even though this may be the case, we have to STAY ACTIVE. Lastly, I have to keep my body moving as much as possible. I am consistently stretching, walking, or running. More than ever, it strengthens your heart and improves your circulation but also causes a change in antibodies and white blood cells. An increase in white blood cells will fight diseases.
With all of the gatherings, Combining all three of these health tips helps me stay cold & flu-free and I hope they help you too! Make sure to visit the app weekly for more body care hacks and tips! Happy holidays everyone!
