Amazon Go – A Grocery Store With No Lines or Cashiers
Recently, Amazon just announced an entirely new way of shopping – Amazon Go. Basically, you walk into this convenience store, scan your phone, and shop. Once you’re all done, you can walk out. That simple. No lines. No cashiers. It works through deep learning algorithms and sensor fusion, creating what Amazon calls “Just Walk Out Technology”. All you need to do is scan a QR code on your smartphone app when you enter the store and that’s it. The store then detects what item you choose to buy or take. Once you’re done shopping, your Amazon account will be charged based on what you grabbed.
You may have some questions like what happens if you change your mind, or how does Amazon know who to charge if they’re multiple people in the store? Amazon Go is still in Beta (testing) and the only store that’s open right now is in Seattle – for Amazon employees only. Amazon says they’re expected to open Amazon Go to the masses, early 2017. We’ll be sure to keep you updated.
Amazon Go is definitely the innovation we’ve all been excited to see but is it really helping us? Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome witnessing it all manifest within our generation. Have you noticed changes in McDonald’s? They’re starting to implement small kiosk within their restaurants for ordering food. Ultimately everything is going away from the face to face interaction with an actual human being. How do you feel about this? Yes, tt’s making things faster and convenient, but what about jobs? What about the daily interaction we need to give ourselves to other people on this planet. Will this eventually separate us in a sense?
You start dying when you stop dreaming.
