5 Books You Must Read in Your 20’s
Our mission is to encourage readers to achieve their dreams and goal. We stand by that – that’s why we provide these 5 books that you MUST read within your 20’s. Not in any specific order but they are essential especially if you’ve been stressing and feeling like shit. Times may be rough for you right now, just take a second, go to Barnes and Noble, grab a “frap”, and indulge in one of these books. It’ll be the best thing you’ve ever done. You start dying when you stop dreaming.
1. The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz
This is a short read yet powerful. Miguel Ruiz talks about 4 agreements you should adopt and live by. This book will literally change your way of thinking – some say it changed their life. It is important to read this within your 20’s because there are some things you’re doing to yourself to create unnecessary stress and it’s hard to the body. Thank me later.
Favorite Quote: “Whatever happens around you, don’t take it personally… Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves.”
― Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom
2. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
After finishing this book, it’ll feel like you just took a deep breath in the middle of somewhere so heavenly – you don’t even know where you are yet you feel so comfortable and present. This book addresses so much – word can’t explain. Eckhart Tolle encourages all to just be present. You learn about the benefits of being aware and how it can expand your mind further than it’s ever been. This is so important for your 20’s because this is the time where we need to be the most present or we’ll allow life to pass by swiftly.
Favorite Quote: “Die to the past every moment. You don’t need it. Only refer to it when it is absolutely relevant to the present. Feel the power of this moment and the fullness of Being. Feel your presence.”
― Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment
3. The One Thing by Gary Keller
We all have goals and dreams (I hope you do). This read is great because it allows us to minimize and structure those goals so we’ll be able to get them done efficiently. Tackling myths like “Multi-tasking”, you quickly learn that you have to give each task your full attention. That’s how you make the best of it. Without this book, I wouldn’t be in the position I am today – which makes me forever grateful. What’s one thing you can do such by doing it will make things easier or unnecessary?
Favorite Quote: “You need to be doing fewer things for more effect instead of doing more things with side effects.”
― Gary Keller, The ONE Thing
4. You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
Our 20’s is our most selfish years. This is the generation where we learn so much about ourselves. We go through heartbreaks, adulthood, and parenting (for some). Yet, why do we allow ourselves lose track of it all? We forget who we are, and allow those voices to influence us. That’s no way of living. This book is a reminder – fuck them. Fuck the low self-esteem, depression, and negative comments on social media. We are badasses.
Favorite Quote: “You are loved. Massively. Ferociously. Unconditionally. The Universe is totally freaking out about how awesome you are. It’s got you wrapped in a warm gorilla hug of adoration. It wants to give you everything you desire. It wants you to be happy. It wants you to see what it sees in you.”
― Jen Sincero, You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life
5. Fuck Feelings by Micheal Bennett
We’re too young for feelings. Again, we are in our 20’s – this is the time where we suppose living it up – having fun. You worry about all those feelings later, right now – it’s best to worry about YOU / focus on YOU. At this point, we don’t even know what we want, why waste people’s time? Reading this book, you’ll feel like your talking to a therapist (and of course we can’t afford that right now) that will help you put aside your unrealistic wishes. One thing you’ll take away is to stop trying to change things you can’t change and do the best with what you can control.
Favorite Quote:“It’s not clear when people started equating solving emotional issues with retracing your steps in order to find your car keys, but if you retrace your steps to uncover the ultimate source of your problems, you won’t usually find it. On the plus side, you might find your sunglasses.”
― Michael Bennett, F*ck Feelings: One Shrink’s Practical Advice for Managing All Life’s Impossible Problems
