Inside Tyler Mitchell Studio
Watch an intimate portrait of acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Tyler Mitchell, and get a peek into his evolving archive in his Brooklyn studio. Celebrated as the first Black photographer to shoot the cover of Vogue magazine featuring Beyoncé, Mitchell shares his philosophy on how clothes shape identity and images shape culture.
As he shows us around his studio, he traces his creative journey, from making skateboarding videos when he was a kid in Atlanta to fashion and editorial photography to experimenting with printing on fabric and mirror. “The advantage photography has versus other mediums is its breadth of application. Images in general are things that transcend language. They’re these things that hit the gut as much as they hit the mind.”
Art for All is the latest project in a creative partnership with UNIQLO that began with the ArtSpeaks video series.
