Peep Elon Musk Plans for London to New York 29-minute Rocket Flights

Earth-to-Earth rocket flights that could transport people to most places on Earth in under 30 minutes, and all for the price of an economy flight on a passenger jet.

The project, BFR, would see people board a boat which would transport them out to a floating launch pad. From there, passengers would board a reusable spacecraft capable of reaching speeds of up to 27,000 km/h. That means it would be able to make the journey from London to New York (or Dubai) in just 29 minutes, while Los Angeles to New York would be achievable in just 25 minutes.

“If you build a ship that’s capable of going to Mars, what if you take that same ship and go to another place on earth,” said Musk during a space industry conference yesterday. “So we looked at that and the results are quite interesting.”

Musk himself admits this goal is “aspirational”, but construction work will begin in the next 6-9 months, so we can follow the progress closely.
