Anonymous Documentary – The Story of the Anonymous Hacktivists
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Expect us.
This is the story of the Anonymous Hacktivists – the Internets’ first Army so to speak. Started as the most terrible thing on the internet has become a force for good. Anonymous is pretty much a group of hackers that doesn’t stand for any sh*t. Known for hacking the Government and huge company sites, exploiting people that are not for the people – if you know what I mean. Anonymous gained national attention in 2008 when the group hacked the Church of Scientology Web site with a distributed denial-of-service attack, in which multiple computers bombard the victim’s server with requests in order to overwhelm and shut it down. Hector Xavier Monsegur, nicknamed Sabu, was arrested in 2011 and admitted involvement in hacking companies like MasterCard and PayPal. In 2013, Jeremy Hammond was sentenced to ten years in prison for his Anonymous hacking. Several other names have been made public, but the group remains true to their name: anonymous. Speaking about the philosophy behind Anonymous, there is no particular set of guidelines that the group follows. It is merely a vast and intricate network of like-minded hackers who work with common ideas and goals. Recently, they have been involved in taking down Donald Trump’s Trump Towers’ website following the presidential candidate’s remarks on Muslim immigrants in the USA.
