Students Protests Their Right To A Free College Education
Have a degree of any kind? How much did it cost you? I bet around thousands of dollars. No way you had the money to pay upfront. Shoot neither do I or a million other students. Sallie Mae© and other loan distributors are quick to lend a helping hand but, after graduation you find yourself in a sh*t load of debt.
With America being one of the richest countries in the world, why must education have a price tag?
#MillionStudentMarch fights for the right to free college education. Along with, eliminating current student debt, and better wages for campus workers. Marchers will also fight for better pay to professors. As the movement expands, students hope that university fees, housing, and paying for textbooks will die out too. Across the country, 110 campuses from California, New York, Philly, Portland, and Seattle marched to burn school debts into the ground! Many college graduates and similar advocacy groups marched as well.
Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders encouraged students to take a stand. During an interview, he made a comment of the need for a plan to end national student loan debt.
Sanders stated,
“If a million young people march on Washington they [say] to the Republican leadership, we know what’s going on, and you better vote to deal with student debt. You better vote to make public universities and colleges tuition free, that’s when it will happen.”
With only the start of a Facebook page #MillionStudentMarch became surprisingly popular! “The duty of youth is to challenge corruption,” said the great Kurt Kobain. The youth is the future. These young scholars are definitely taking a stand to this f*#ked up system to pave a better tomorrow for us all. The battle may be challenging and, of course, won’t happen overnight but, nothing worth having comes easy. You start dying when you stop dreaming.
